City funding pays only a portion of the Library’s operating expenses.
Friends of the new Orleans Public Library is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit organization. Membership with the Friends of the Library is a great way to support NOPL’s free and vital services including literacy training, internet access and job search resources. Friends of the Library is also helping people across New Orleans enjoy a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Please join the Friends today so that we may put your membership dues to work for the New Orleans Public Library right away. Libraries aren’t just about books; they are about community and about sharing knowledge on a very local level.
In return for your generous support, you will receive a yearly subscription to our newsletter, regular updates on sales and workshops, invitations to ‘members only’ events- including a behind-the-scenes tour of the City Archives in the basement of the Main Branch of NOPL, and recognition in our Annual Report. Members at the $250 level or higher may ‘adopt-a-shelf’ in the genre of your choice- and a shelf will be labeled with your name at our Carriage House Book Sale. You will also gain the satisfaction of belonging to group of generous and compassionate New Orleanians.
When you become a Friend of the Library, you help those in need write a new story.
All memberships and donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
